About Masi Bikes

Masi bikesMasi Bicycles is a manufacturer of road, track, cyclocross and commuter bicycles based in Vista, California, United States.

Faliero Masi started making bicycle frames at the Vigorelli Velodrome in Milano in the 1950s, after a career as a professional racer and team mechanic. In 1973 his son Alberto took over the Vigorelli shop selling Masi bikes while Faliero and two assistants came to the US and began production at a new facility in Carlsbad, California after selling the “Cicli Masi” name and trademark to an American businessman, Roland Sahm.

Later on, Faliero returned to Italy. Subsequent disputes over the volume of production caused a breakdown in relations between Masi and the US Masi investors. The ownership of the US trademark remained with the US operation, so the Masi family were unable to sell bikes in the US under their own name, although Alberto Masi would later release bikes into the US under the “Milano 3V” name.

Many well-known and successful professional cyclists have ridden Masi bikes, including Antonio Maspes, Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Jacques Anquetil and Eddy Merckx.

Masi Bike Range

Masi bikes make a number of different models within the road, track, cyclocross and commuter sectors. Their 2012 range of Masi bikes includes the following categories and models:

Masi Carbon Bikes

The Evoluzione carbon series represents the ultimate commitment to performance. With such a deep history rich in elite racing, anything less than perfection wouldn’t be tolerated. Years of development were needed to create not just a solitary feature, but a complete package of performance, which we’ve dubbed Masi’s Total Overdrive System. Simply put, every tube on our Evo frameset was designed and engineered to work with each of the others, creating a frameset who’s whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Masi Steel Bikes

Taking all aspects of traditional lugged bikes into account, we decided to reverse the color schemes building a chrome plated black lugged beauty Van Gogh would be jealous of. Built using elegant lugs and Reynolds 525 tubing, this latest Gran Criterium is an instant modern classic with the all new Shimano 105 group. Smiling is the only option when stepping onto this beauty. (also available as a frameset).

Masi Performance Bikes

New and redesigned for 2012, the Performance Series frames feature a redesigned tubeset highlighting internal brake cable routing, a feature normally found on bikes well above these price points. Though the bikes look racier than ever, they maintain that perfect harmony between agility and stability; with longer wheelbases, shorter top tubes and a more upright riding position, they are ideally suited for long days in the saddle.
